Emma Rice’s work is critically acclaimed Wuthering Heights It will perform exclusively in Sydney for one season in 2025. Opening January 31, 2025 at the Rose Park Theater for a limited three-week season.
This very limited Australian season will mark the start of the show’s Southeast Asia tour, with the British company (including many of the original London cast) returning to their respective roles.
The leading roles of Heathcliff and Catherine will be played by John Lid and Stephanie Hockley respectively. Sam Archer as Lockwood/Edgar Linton, Rebecca Collingwood as Isabella Linton/Linton Heathcliff (Linton Heathcliff), Matthew Churcher as Hindley Earnshaw/Hareton Earnshaw, Nandi Bhebhe as the Moorish leader, Stephanie Elstob as Zillah, Thomas Fox as Mr. Earnshaw, TJ Holmes as Dr. Kenneth, Robin Sinclair as Frances Earnshaw /Young Cathy, with Frederick Double as Robert. The live band on stage features musical director Pat Moran on bass guitar, Sid Goldsmith on guitar and Alex Lupo on percussion Hand composition.
Rice is a groundbreaking theater director best known for her work at Nehigh Theatre, where she served as Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater in London and currently leads the highly successful production company Wise Children. Her bold and innovative production, creativity, storytelling talent and use of music have made her one of the most important and acclaimed directors in contemporary theatre.

Heathcliff was rescued from the Liverpool docks as a child and later adopted by the Earnshaw family and brought to live at Wuthering Heights. In their daughter Catherine, Heathcliff found a kindred spirit and an intense love ignited. However, when forced to separate, a series of cruel events will occur.
Accompanied by music and dance, Les (It’s too late to meet, tristan and isolte, red shoes) transforms Emily Bronte’s masterpiece into a passionate, powerful and unique theatrical experience.
The production was adapted and directed by Emma Rice, with composer Ian Ross, sets and costumes by Vicki Mortimer, and sound and video by Simon Baker (Simon Baker), lighting by Jai Morjaria, movement and choreography by Etta Murfitt.
