I can’t guard this anymore: IV Glutathione is the self-care habit that changed my life. As a health enthusiast living in Los Angeles, I’m exposed to many new “miracle” ingredients, products, and rituals. Honestly? Many were useless, but some worked their magic and I was hooked. So when I heard about the benefits of glutathione, I was intrigued.

My experience with glutathione
Glutathione has been called a game-changing detoxifier and it’s starting to show up all over the place, most notably via glutathione injections in the form of a 15-minute intravenous injection. Like other popular expert-approved supplements, glutathione occurs naturally. Your body already makes it, uses it and knows what to do with it. Unlike synthetic solutions or caustic detoxifiers (apple cider vinegar…never again), this guarantees efficacy.
After a season of holiday indulgence, I started taking glutathione to help jumpstart a healthy reset. Instead, I got something even better: adding an all-star supplement to my morning routine that reduces inflammation, supports my body’s natural detoxification process, and even helps deal with hyperpigmentation from within—yes, really !
Glutathione is the body’s most powerful antioxidant. Founder and CEO of Auro Wellness Glutathione Revolution. Dr. Patel is at the forefront of making glutathione a trend, having been researching glutathione since 1999 and is one of the manufacturers of intravenous and liposomal formulations. He is a key figure behind the glutathione injection trend and gave me an inside look at what glutathione is all about and why you should incorporate it into your daily routine.
PhD. Nayan Patel
Dr. Patel founded Auro Wellness in 2011 to create products that help the body function at its optimal level and reduce the long-term effects of stress on the body.
What is glutathione?
“Glutathione (GSH) is a naturally occurring tripeptide amino acid (protein) produced in every cell of our body and is often referred to as the master antioxidant and master detoxifier,” says Dr. Patel.
In other words, this is how the body naturally detoxifies, neutralizes free radicals and flushes out toxins. More and more people are replenishing their glutathione levels through glutathione injections or liposomal supplements to support the body’s natural detoxification process and help prevent disease. Some benefits of doing this include:
- Prevent premature signs of aging
- Promote cell proliferation (aka, produce more cells)
- Enhance immunity
- Detox
- Brightens skin tone and eliminates hyperpigmentation
- Neutralizes free radicals, which cause oxidative stress and lead to disease
Glutathione Injection Benefits
“Traditionally, injectable nutrients have been considered to have better absorption,” Dr. Patel said. Instead of having to slather on a cream or chew a gummy supplement to absorb a low percentage of all these great ingredients, your body can get higher doses more efficiently. “The advantage of injecting glutathione is that it has the potential to bypass the harsh conditions of the stomach and provide benefits such as neutralizing free radicals.”
Therefore, glutathione injections are in high demand, mainly through intravenous injection. Many health clinics offer 15-minute “glutathione bolus” IV services. Suddenly, glutathione injections were more accessible, more affordable, and more effective than other hour-long intravenous infusions (which could cost double or even triple the price). Don’t get me wrong, I love combining the Glutathione IV with the Collagen and Hydration IV once in a while as a treat, but Glutathione Push has become my holy grail.
Glutathione Injections vs. Liposomal Glutathione Supplements
Intravenous injections are not the only way to experience the benefits of glutathione. “Many people also choose to take intravenous glutathione to enhance their health and well-being,” says Dr. Patel. “There are other alternatives that can provide similar, if not better, results and improve overall health and longevity.”
Another popular way to supplement glutathione? Liposomal Glutathione Packets. They are often found on the counters of Erewhon and other health stores. In other words, they’re healthy girl approved.
“Liposome glutathione has some protective effects against a harsh digestive tract,” says Dr. Patel. However, he noted that the impact would not last that long. This is why liposomal glutathione supplements are ideal for daily use. Adding them to your morning supplement can give you a daily boost of glutathione.
Can glutathione be applied topically?
We’re big fans of antioxidant-rich skincare, and luckily, glutathione is finally making its way into skincare formulas. Dr. Patel agrees, saying recent technologies have shown “huge promise in delivering glutathione locally.”
Like other antioxidants, using glutathione is a great option for brightening your skin, fighting signs of aging like hyperpigmentation and fine lines, and building your skin’s barrier.
