Celebrity event management is an exciting but challenging career path. How does one gain experience in this industry and stand out in the competitive world of event management, especially as a woman? I had the exciting opportunity to speak with an individual who had achieved a major milestone such as Forbes‘ “Top 30 Under 30” Works with famous clients such as Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Google and more. Megan Ford: How did you get started in your event management career?
Celeste Dewey: I started my career in event management when I was about 17 years old. I started out as an unpaid intern simply because I was eager to gain experience in the industry. I quickly noticed gaps in the guest check-in process, especially at large events, where the guest experience was often overlooked. This sparked an idea: “What if I could help streamline the process and make it more seamless and enjoyable?” I started reaching out to people I knew in the industry, offering to help accommodate their guests and handle their guest experience, Sometimes friends are brought along to help. This experience sets the stage for the ultimate VIPER, where we focus on ensuring every guest feels like a VIP from the moment they arrive.
Megan Ford: You also become friends with other Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees such as Emily Blair Marcus and Jade Watson. What do you think is different about the way you do business? What makes podcasting together such a special experience for you?
Celeste Dewey: Become friends with Emily Blair Marcus and Jed Watson It was such a unique experience because we all had different approaches to business but shared a passion for what we did. Emily’s approach is very much rooted in public relations and crisis management, while Jade’s business is more content-driven and media-focused. My focus has always been on hotel service and guest experience, especially in terms of nightlife and events. Despite these differences, we are united by our shared entrepreneurial spirit, drive for innovation, and desire to elevate others in our industry.

Megan Ford: Can you share an unforgettable event for you?
Celeste Dewey: One of the most memorable events for me was the Golden Globe Awards. This was a defining moment in my career because it was the first time I wasn’t physically present as a founder. I have to trust my team to handle everything on their own for such a big, high-stakes event. It was nerve-wracking, but turned out to be incredibly successful.
Holding my team accountable really got our scaling off the ground. That experience showed me what they were capable of and that I didn’t need to be hands-on with everything. It was then that I learned the power of delegation, which allowed me to start focusing more on the big picture of VIPER rather than just focusing on the weeds of day-to-day operations. From that point on, we really started to grow because I was able to step back and let my team shine.
Megan Ford: young but already famous Event professionals, how do you respond to changing circumstances?
Celeste Dewey: I’m a big believer in evolution, both in my personal and professional life, so managing the changing landscape of events doesn’t scare me but excites me. I see change as an opportunity to grow. I don’t pretend to know it all, which is why I like to hire younger employees who are more comfortable than I am. They are often at the forefront and I am constantly learning from them. I genuinely enjoy giving back and trying new things, which keeps me and my team at the forefront of innovation. This is about remaining flexible and open-minded in a fast-paced industry.
Megan Ford: What did your mentors teach you that you hope to carry over into the industry?
celeste Dulf: My mentors taught me valuable lessons that have stayed with me in the event and nightlife management world, especially when working with high-profile clients. One of the most important things I’ve learned is to have a thick skin and adapt quickly because things don’t always go as planned. I also learned the importance of setting boundaries with employees and customers to ensure I wasn’t taken advantage of.
My biggest mentor is my mom, and the life lesson she taught me is resilience—to keep moving forward and solving problems along the way. This is something I really hope to bring into this industry because no matter how chaotic or high-pressure things get, resilience is key to staying ahead of the game.
Megan Ford: you started “#LastCall,” in which you discuss the importance of women’s safety in the nightlife scene. What steps can nightlife venues take to ensure greater safety for women?
celeste Dulf: Through “Last Call,” I wanted to highlight the importance of women’s safety in the nightlife scene, which is a bigger topic than many people realize. One key measure that venue owners and managers can implement is to keep detailed written records when staff or guests report issues such as drugged drinks or sexual assault. Dealing with these serious crimes requires greater diligence.
In my own campaign for change, I’ve learned that many times we don’t even have the funds to dispose of rape kits, which means they often go unprocessed. This is heartbreaking and speaks to the larger issue of legislation and funding that we desperately need. However, at a local level, venues can and should do their part. This includes installing more cameras, paying attention to feedback when people complain and proactively resolving issues. Safety should be a top priority, starting with listening and taking action.
