Emily Gold, a cheerleader at Los Osos High School in California who appeared on America’s Got Talent just last month, was cast on Friday, September 20 Found dead by suicide.
She was 17 years old.
Gold’s body was found under a bridge on the eastbound Highway 210 in Rancho Cucamonga, according to the San Bernardino Coroner’s Office.
As a result, officials are convinced the teen committed suicide.
Gord impressed the judges on America’s Got Talent a few weeks ago along with the rest of the Los Osos High School dance team.
After passing the auditions, the group made it to the show’s quarter-finals, but were eliminated in August.
“It was absolutely brilliant,” panellist Simon Cowell said of the performance. “The first thing I love about this is the energy of it. I think what I just saw is everything a great school should do, which is encourage talent and friendship.
Added selection of judges:
“It reminded me of watching the High School Musical movie and thinking that every kid should go to a school like this.”
A GoFundMe campaign is underway in Gold’s memory and has raised nearly half of its $50,000 goal, with donations being sent to Emily’s grieving family.
“Let it be known that while there are many who love and even respect Emily Gold, she is now relieved,” one of Gold’s friends wrote on Facebook.
“No matter what, she will be remembered by her fellow Grizzlies and those who loved her with all their hearts. Emily Gold, thank you for everything you did in this world. You did enough. Emily Gold Paws raised towards you.
Gold even spoke to People magazine about her experience as a reality star back on August 13.
“When I perform, I really think about all the corrections because we all get them five minutes before we go on stage,” she told the outlet.
“So really thinking about all of that so that we can apply it is my number one priority on stage.”
Our condolences go out to Emily Gold’s friends, family and loved ones.
