Byron Scott feel much better JJ Redick Leading the Lakers… Narrated TMZ Sports After hiring some experienced coaches as his assistants, he became more confident in his chances of success.
Scott — a former Lakers player and coach himself — made that clear to us this week at LAX… admitting that he initially thought Los Angeles made a mistake by handing over the reins to a guy with zero experience on the bench.
“I mean, I have a lot of respect for him because of everything he’s done in this league. But when you talk about coaching, everybody says they want an experienced coach,” Scott said. “He has no experience.”
One of Redick’s top priorities is to flesh out his staff…Scott says he has two great guys Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks — both have years of head coaching experience — so he can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“There are guys who have head coaching experience who have been on the bench before, who have won championships on the bench, so I think the fact that he’s brought in some guys with a lot of experience makes me feel really good about the whole selection better. ,” Scott said.
