“When I see them, we have cordial conversations, but I don’t seek them out for a relationship,” she describes.
“I feel like we’ve had a lot of time to be able to do this, in the past — since I was separated from Cody for over a year, when Cody and I separated and were done,” Meri said. “I’m doing a lot of that myself.”
“I think it’s really important to be surrounded by people who really encourage that,” Meri Brown said afterward.
“It took me a little while to realize and understand that it was OK,” she admits. “Sometimes, people are only in your life for a certain period of time.”
Meri continued, “If the relationship isn’t reciprocal, let it go. It’s not about nurturing me, it’s not about nurturing them — that’s true for him, that’s true for my sister-wives. It’s true for the people in my life. Applicable to anyone.
