Deondre Overton A former Clemson college football player who helped Clemson win two national championships died in an early morning shooting, police said.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement minutes ago saying that police were called to a disturbance in Greensboro, North Carolina, around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived on scene, they found a gunshot victim named Overton. Police provided medical assistance but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Clemson football’s official X account posted several photos from the star’s college days… acknowledging his passing and expressing condolences to his friends and family.
Some of his teammates also paid tribute to their late friend … including the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver tee higginshe shared a photo on his Instagram Story.
Over a photo of him and Overton sitting together, Higgins wrote: “Bro I miss you already. I love you 5L…I’m hurting right now. Rest big drama.”
Overton played for Clemson from 2016 to 2019…and had 52 catches for 777 yards and seven touchdowns in his college career.
He helped Clemson win national championships in 2016 and 2018 … and a plaque outside the stadium bears his name as captain during his senior season.
Overton is 26 years old.
