As a result, the Sound On Sound festival will be renamed soundside Thanks to a partnership between Founders Entertainment (the original promoter) and C3 Presents, the festival arm of Live Nation. C3 Presents is also the producer of shows such as Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. This year’s festival will once again be held at Bridgeport’s Waterfront Park on September 28-29. And the lineup is amazing.
An eclectic group of artists came together on Saturday night. Titled Noah Kahanwith a diverse representation of top talent throughout the day. Also performing are the Goo Goo Dolls, Fleet Foxes, Boyz II Men and Grace Potter. Placing the bill was equally impressive. I’m looking forward to meeting Thee Sacred Souls (who we’ve featured in the past) and bluesy Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. Also on Saturday’s roster are Lisa Loeb, Madi Diaz and Rijah. As you can see, every music genre has its own rhythm.
Dave Grohl and Spitfire at the top of the bill. Queens of the Stone Age was originally scheduled to compete, but had to withdraw due to external reasons. in their place, soundside Was able to find Jack Antonoff’s incredible band the Bleachers. I was looking forward to QOTSA, but Bleachers is definitely a good alternative. It was also a unique event on Sunday, with Noah Jones and the soulful Teddy Swims taking the stage.
Additionally, Sunday features War & Treaties, Gregory Alan Isakov, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, Long Live the Improv and Ireland’s Darren Keely. As you can see, this is an extremely unique blend of different talents. Sunday’s lineup is hot. I’m certainly looking forward to all the energetic performances.
As we’ve covered the previous two Sound On Sound festivals (see below), my only wish is to let nature grant me grace soundside The weather is great. The first year was a bit chaotic as the founders found their feet in the new entity. Last year, the night before the festival was hampered by monsoons, which the organizers handled with dignity and grace, but it was still a muddy mess.
So, hopefully third time is the charm and everything goes according to plan. I hope the gods hear my prayers and provide an atmosphere conducive to two days of extremely enjoyable music. The founders and C3 Presents have truly created an event that is both edgy and rhythmic. I personally can’t wait.
