Amy Duggar has proven once again that she has no interest in adhering to the strict code of conduct her bossy uncle Jim Bob was famous for.
For years, Amy has been known as the rebel of television’s most famous fundamentalist family.
These days—perhaps inspired by the example set by her defiant cousins—she’s pushing the envelope like never before.
Amy Duggar sets her own rules
Even during the Duggar couple’s heyday as reality stars, Amy had a habit of rolling her eyes at Jim Bob’s nonsense and doing her own thing.
In the wake of the Josh Duggar sex scandal and family downfall, Amy became an outspoken critic of her infamous uncle.
Amy and her cousin Jill are one of only two Duggar family members to appear in the controversial Amazon Prime documentary shiny happy people.
In the film, she opens up about the pain of watching her cousins grow up in such an authoritarian environment.
But Amy’s rebellion isn’t just about reliving her painful past.
Sometimes she liked to celebrate her freedom from Jim Bob by reveling in the kind of pleasure he strictly prohibited!
Amy enjoys ‘hot tub date’ with husband, posts photos on Instagram
Earlier this week, Amy posted some photos that Jim Bob is sure to post on Instagram no Agree.
“I’m not sad…turns out I just needed a hot tub date night [with] My Taz! Amy captioned the post.
You may be familiar with the Duggar dress code, which requires girls and women to dress “modestly” at all times.
Well, Amy’s bikini might not fit the bill.
In fact, she and husband Dillon King are pictured drinking champagne.
Alcohol was strictly forbidden in Jim Bob’s world, and he was reportedly upset when he learned his daughter Jill had started drinking.
Of course, that was before Jill published her memoir, in which she details some of the more difficult aspects of growing up in such a strict household.
These days, Amy is writing her own memoir. Jim Bob may not be interested in the project.
Maybe he felt his cousins were ganging up on him. But the more likely explanation is that they both independently realized that they wouldn’t be happy if they continued to follow the ridiculous rules JB had set for them.
Amy and Jill may have had no personal vendetta against Jim Bob. In fact, Jill has said she wants to work on her relationship with her father.
But both women will likely continue to live their lives on their own terms and tell their stories as they see fit.
Jim Bob would undoubtedly view these actions as an attack on his values and beliefs.
