(CelebrityAccess) — July, former White Stripes co-founder jack white The release of his latest album, No Name, surprised fans, but he did so without much fanfare.
Instead of releasing the album in a traditional way, White surprised fans by giving away the 12-inch album for free to shoppers at Third Man Records retail stores in Detroit, London and Nashville without providing any details.
The record is pressed on white vinyl with no track information listed, the record label is engraved with “Untitled” and the legends of “Heaven and Hell” and “Black and Blue” are engraved on the dead wax area of each record .
The record initially received little marketing support, with word spreading primarily through word of mouth among White’s fans.
Now White appears to be following a similar path, touring for No Name.
White took to social media on Tuesday to reveal tour plans that are almost as mysterious as the record release.
According to White, he is touring in support of No Name, but said shows will be announced as soon as possible.
“We won’t be announcing too many dates in advance, we’ll be playing mainly small clubs, backyard bashes and a few festivals to help cover costs,” he said.
“Shows will be announced as close to the show date as possible, and some we won’t even decide until that morning,” he added.
He also took the opportunity to philosophize about the tour (one speculates), saying:
“I still want to walk through the orchards, pick apples from the trees at will, and fill my stomach with them if the desire arises. I’m looking for that cool breeze, you know.
