NellyGetting arrested at a Missouri casino didn’t stop him from cashing in his big win from a slot machine … and we’re told the rapper walked away with a huge chunk of change.
The hitmaker’s lawyer, Scott Rosenblumtold TMZ … that his client did receive a $50,000 winning from slot machines at the Hollywood Casino in St. Charles, Missouri, on Wednesday morning. This was good news to go with the bad news for Nelly – as we reported, the win saw him receive an effective yellow card.
Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Nellie initially thought the arrest was a joke or prank because he was collecting a bonus, and a background check revealed an open warrant.
We learn that Nelly was first handcuffed to a chair…with one hand free to collect the rest of the cash.
After collecting all the money, we’re told police then handcuffed both of Nelly’s wrists and led him through the casino.
Nellie’s lawyer claimed that an arresting officer told his client that they Background check required before giving him money.
The rapper insisted that he had previously won larger winnings at the same casino but was not subject to a background check. During this background check, an active arrest warrant emerged for a previous traffic stop…prompting arresting officers to search his belongings, where they allegedly found ecstasy.
Nellie’s attorney tells us prosecutors have yet to charge the rapper with drug possession…and now he wants an investigation into the arresting officer, claiming Nellie was searched without probable cause.
No luck legally, but man…sounds like Nelly is cleaning up with some loose grooves.
