jack black Don’t think Tenacious D is finished. ET’s Denny Directo caught up with the 54-year-old actor on Tuesday’s episode Borderlands At the Los Angeles premiere, he spoke about his recent decision Cancel trip His band with Kyle Gass.
“I like the gritty D… We have to take a break, but I like the D. Everyone takes a break sometimes,” Black told the Economic Times. “We’ll be back.”
The situation started last month when Gase assassination attempt be opposed to Donald Trump. Garth made the comments when Blake told him to make her birthday wish on stage at a Tenacious D concert.
“Don’t miss Trump next time,” Gase responded.
Gase issued an apology after his remarks, calling them “a deeply inappropriate, dangerous and horrific mistake.”
“I do not condone violence of any kind against anyone,” he continued. “What happened was a tragedy and I am deeply sorry for my severe lack of judgment. [sic]. I deeply apologize to those I have let down and for any pain I have caused.
Shortly thereafter, Black took to social media, writing: “I was caught off guard by the comments on Sunday’s show. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence of any kind.”
“After much consideration, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue touring with Tenacious D and all future creative plans have been put on hold,” Black continued. “I thank the fans for their support and understanding.”
While Tenacious D may return one day, for now, Black is focused on promoting Borderlandsadapted from the video game of the same name.
“My kids love the game and I love the game, so it’s a no-brainer,” Black told ET at the film’s premiere. The actor shares sons Tommy, 16, and Sammy, 18, with his wife of nearly two decades, Tanya Haden.
While Black’s children are fans of the source material, Borderlands Director Eli Roth assures viewers they don’t need to play the game to enjoy the film.
“This is for people who love the game. Experiencing it in a theater is obviously different, but I wanted to make a movie where you don’t have to know anything about it, you don’t have to do homework, you just want to have a fun time Time, just laugh,” Rose told ET. “It’s a journey. It’s a good time. Bring your popcorn bag, turn off your brain and have fun. That’s the kind of movie I want to make.”
Borderlands It will be released on August 9th.
