Dirty Minds/Slightly Silly Live at Amplifier in Bridgeport

What a busy week. This was my second visit to the AMP in Bridgeport in three days. Accompanied by my talented photographer Kerri Nelson, we attended dirty head and A bit dull “Slightly Dirty” co-headlines a summer tour that includes Common Kings and The Elovaters as direct support. The evening was a little cooler than the previous two days of the fully tube festival, and the crowd was much younger. It’s going to be a great night.
The night kicked off with Boston’s own The Elovaters. Headquartered in Ct. We have several NE representatives, so we know the band very well. They won the 2022 New England Music Awards for “Artist of the Year” and “Best Live Performance.” Elovaters’ sound is a perfect blend of reggae, rock and indie. Their music is vibrant and vibrant. The band consists of Jason Wetherbee (vocals/rhythm guitar), Nicholas Asta (drums), Matt Link (bass), Greg Nectow (keys) and John Alves (lead guitar).

The Elovaters’ performance was full of optimism and energy. This band knows how to work a crowd. Starting with “Castaway,” the band had the crowd swaying to the beat. The song has a righteous reggae vibe and sublime vocals. Here’s the title of their 2023 full-length endless summer This is a great album. In fact, most of their 8 songs come from this version. “Roll Up” followed immediately, and the whole audience felt the rhythm. “Gimmie Love,” “MIA” and “Red Wine” are full of joy. “Marguerite” closed castle On the album, the air is filled with images of beaches and laid-back vacations. The Elovaters ended the show with a brilliant performance of “Sunlight”. This is a perfect start.
Next are the common kings, who are based in Orange County but originate primarily from Polynesia. Their use of reggae, Polynesian music, punk and rock gives the band a super unique sound. The group consists of Sasualei “Jr.” King” Maliga (vocals), Taumata Gray (guitar), Ivan “Uncle Lui” Kirimaua (bass) and Jerome “Big Rome” Taito (drums). From the start, Normal King was on fire. Maliga was a standout Lead vocals, with the ability to bring the crowd to their feet. Gray has a huge talent on guitar, with a strong edge on rough riffs and solos, and Taito on drums. is Celebration, to be released in 2023.

Their extended set features a number of impressive hits, including “Da My Thing,” “Wade In Your Water,” “24/7,” “Alcoholic” and “Queen Majesty.” Additionally, Commons Kings released a cheeky version of Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved.” Throughout the performance, the intensity of the orchestra was unforgettable. They never let up and the whole house was filled with pure joy. Ordinary kings were killed.
Next on the stage is A bit dull. The orchestra’s music comes from a variety of sources. Reggae, rock, punk and hip-hop are all blended into an innovative palette of rich textures, resulting in some unsettlingly original compositions. Headquartered in Ocean Beach, A bit dull From a threesome to a sevensome. The band’s current lineup includes Miles Doughty (vocals/bass), Kyle McDonald (vocals/bass/guitar), Ryan Moran (drums), Oguer Ocon (percussion), Daniel Delacruz (saxophone), Andy Geib (trombone) and Paul Wolstencroft (Keys).

A bit dull 18 songs were played, full of fearless rhythms. Doughty and MacDonald traded lead vocals throughout the night. Both of them have loud voices that demand attention. Sunset came quickly and their music enhanced the whole experience. Audience favorites include “Officer,” “Bandelero,” “2 AM” and “Got Me On The Run.” Later in the performance, A bit dull “No Cocaine” and “Collie Man” were well-loved by the audience.
The musicianship was amazing throughout the evening. Every member of the group did a great job. Every note fits like a glove. In addition, De La Cruz’s saxophone solo is also very hot. They ended with “Close to the Sun.” The venue erupted into very loud cheers. A bit dull very impressive.

Highlights include “Oxygen,” “Bum Bum,” “Rescue Me” and “Lay me Down.” Surprisingly they did a cover of Joe Walsh’s “Life Been Good”. Again, the musicianship is outstanding. These guys are doing things together. Each song elicited an enthusiastic response from the audience. Everyone is standing. Everyone in the pit and on the seats felt the luminous atmosphere. dirty head lulling them into a musical coma of pure ecstasy.

Another highlight was the addition of Jason from The Elovaters to the band. In fact, each band has members of the other band playing at their shows. You can see the love between these artists. It’s all about respect. dirty head Ending the night with “Holiday”. No one was disappointed. It was a wonderful evening, full of sonic pleasure and aural beauty. All four bands were a feast. The exhaustion is worth it.
