He’s awesome!
Robert Downey Jr. is about to return to the Marvel Universe, and this time, there’s no question whether he’s the bad guy or not.
The Marvel legend made his return in an epic surprise at the Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, taking the stage following the reveal. Joe Russo and Anthony Russo return guide the next two The Avengers Movie.
It turns out that avengers 5 ——The previous title was Avengers: Kang Dynasty, But in Jonathan Majors ongoing legal issues –The current title is Avengers: DoomsdayDowney is its evil mastermind.
The Russos said the addition of Downey, who apparently played MCU mainstay Tony Stark in nine MCU films, “proves that unimaginable possibilities exist in the Marvel multiverse.” Also known as Iron Man.
“I mean, this is probably one of the funniest characters in all of fiction,” they teased ahead of Downey’s big reveal. “If we’re going to do this, if we’re going to bring him to movie theaters around the world, then I think we need the greatest actor in the world to play this character.”
“New mask, same mission. What I’m telling you is, I love playing complex characters,” Downey told the Comic-Con audience.
Avengers: Doomsday will kick off the end Phase 6 of the MCU May 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars May 2027.
