Winston Nguyena New York math teacher turned “Jeopardy!” champion has turned himself in to authorities on child pornography charges, according to multiple reports.
The educator, who worked at Brooklyn Heights’ tony St. Ann’s School, turned himself in to Brooklyn prosecutors on Thursday…a month after he was accused of trolling minors and sharing X-rated images with them via social media .
Now he’s facing child pornography charges and is expected to go on trial Thursday afternoon in Brooklyn Criminal Court… on charges of using a child in a sexual performance and promoting a sexual performance by a child.
Every New York Times, Nguyen is accused of soliciting X-rated photos from five girls and one boy who were students at four different schools. He allegedly pretended to be a teenager online … and attempted at least 11 times to get students to send him explicit images.
Nguyen was first arrested in front of students at St. Ann’s College … but was later released as authorities began investigating his personal devices. That being said, he was placed on administrative leave at St. Ann’s Hospital as the investigation continues.
“Jeopardy!” fans likely recognize Nguyen from his two appearances on the quiz show back in 2014.
This isn’t Nguyen’s first run-in with the law, either… He spent time on Rikers Island in 2017 after being booked for stealing more than $300,000 from an elderly couple.
We’re sure there’s more to come…so, stay tuned.
