Rory Feek has remarried nearly a decade after the tragic death of his wife Joey.
The 59-year-old country singer shared on his blog that he and Rebecca tied the knot on July 14 “under a beautiful wood-frame gazebo” in Gray Cliff, Montana, with family Wedding the knot in front of friends, they traveled long distances in a short space of time. In a post on his blog, aptly titled “wedding singer” Rory shared how he and Rebecca finally decided to get married, and in fact, it all came down to Rory and Joey’s 10-year-old daughter Indiana.
For some time, Rory shared that “Indiana only saw Rebecca as ‘Miss Rebecca,’ her teacher and our friend.” He added, “She has become much more important to me though , but I was very careful to let Indy ‘figure it out’ on his own.”
Rory said he wondered “if Indiana ever thought Rebecca was more than just her dad and her friend.”
Indiana not only solved the problem, but actually made the wedding happen.
According to Rory, it happened in March when Rebecca dropped Indy off at school. Soon something magical happened. Rebecca returned home with Indiana, and Rory said she told him, “Indiana just asked me something that I think you need to hear.” Rebecca shared that Indiana told her, “Ms. Rebecca, I think you Should marry dad.”
Rory said Indiana looked at him when he was there and said, “”[A]I told Miss Rebecca that my mother had been gone for a long time. If she marries you, maybe she will become my new mother.
Rory said the sweet moment brought tears to his eyes.
At their wedding, Rory surprises Rebecca with “I Do,” a song inspired by Rebecca’s unparalleled love. The ceremony and his performance were recorded on video and shared on his YouTube channel. But the picturesque events and surprising songs weren’t even Rory’s favorite parts of that special day.
“Although it was amazing that I surprised Rebecca at the wedding with a song I wrote for her, I think my favorite moment of her and I’s wedding so far was this moment,” said Rory, who also has two daughters. Heidi and Hopi, from a previous relationship. “When Indiana was given the gift of having a mom in her life again. Rebecca was given the gift of being a mother. We became a family.”
