WASHINGTON, D.C. (CelebrityAccess) — Shira Perlmutter, Register of Copyrights at the U.S. Copyright Office, announced the appointment of Malcolm “Hawk” Hawkins as deputy director of operations for the organization, effective July 14.
In his new position, Hawkins will assist the Registration Assistant and Director of Operations with the office’s strategic planning, financial management activities and business processes.
Hawkins joined the Copyright Office in November 2020 as Director of the Division of Administrative Services, providing guidance and coordination of human resources matters and labor relations, employee and workplace safety, personnel safety, and facilities management. Additionally, he served on the Library of Congress’s Human Capital Advisory Committee.
Prior to joining the Copyright Office, he served in various roles within the Department of Defense’s human resources organization, including program oversight for the Department of Defense’s Office of Suicide Prevention.
Hawkins also served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years.
Hawkins earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland University College and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
