Former NFL star receiver Jacoby Jones – who won Super Bowl 47 with the Baltimore Ravens – has died. He is only 40 years old.
former NFL quarterback Matt LeinartAnd Jones’ former teammate confirmed the devastating news on Sunday and said he was heartbroken by Jacoby’s death.
“His laugh and great personality will be what I will always remember,” Leinart said. “RIP brother.”
Details about his death have not been released.
Since the sad news broke, NFL players and fans have taken to social media to express their condolences, including the former Ravens WR Torrey Smith Who says Jones is unique.
“We’re going to miss you,” Smith said. “Love you, brother!”
JJ Watt Said Jones was one of the most “fun” teammates around, but he “went too soon.”
The Pro Bowler was a third-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft and played for the Texans, Ravens, Chargers and Steelers.
Jones, whose career flourished in Baltimore, is best known for his highlight-reel performance in the 2012 playoffs, which included catching a 70-yard game-tying touchdown pass.

He also had a 108-yard return touchdown in Super Bowl 47, the longest in SB history. The Ravens defeated the 49ers 34-31, losing in the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
After Jones retired in 2017, he returned to his alma mater, Lane College, and became the wide receivers coach. He also coached at Morgan State University and joined the Alabama State staff in 2022.
Jones has also done some off-set gigs…and appeared on Dancing with the Stars Season 16. He finished third Karina Smirnov.
