FBI officials provided no additional information about Crooks or his motives but said the investigation into him is ongoing.
According to the New York Times, Crooks had no criminal record in Pennsylvania and grew up in Bethel Park, a suburb of Pittsburgh.
The New York Times said voting records show Crooks is a registered Republican, but other documents show he donated $15 to the Progressive Turnout Project (PTP). PTP has partnered with ActBlue, a Democratic political action committee, to encourage liberals to get out the vote.
The New York Times also stated that Crooks is one of 1,400 students graduating from Bethel Park High School in 2022. , and then received the diploma from school officials.

Also in 2022, Crooks received a $500 “Star Award” from the National Mathematics and Science Program, according to the Tribune-Review, a western Pennsylvania newspaper.
Now two years later, Crooks Shot to death by Secret Service Agents discovered his trail when he attempted to assassinate Trump at a rally on Saturday. Trump was standing on the podium delivering a routine speech to a packed crowd when Crooks fired several shots at him from a nearby rooftop. TMZ obtained exclusive footage of Crooks lying on the roof as he calmly pulled the trigger.
Other videos show Trump being hit by a bullet and quickly grabbing his injured right ear. Later, Trump fell to the podium and Secret Service agents rushed to his rescue and covered him with their bodies. Two other people were shot at the rally, leaving one dead.
After Crooks was killed, Trump was escorted by security personnel to a waiting vehicle that took him to a local hospital, where he was treated and released hours later.
Trump later issued a statement thanking law enforcement and expressing condolences to the bystanders killed at the rally and the family of another man who was seriously injured.
