competitive eater Nick Weary ——The husband of the women’s champion Sudo Miki — is facing explosive accusations from this year’s hot dog contest … accused of cheating to improve his final score.
This year’s fourth-place finisher initially scored 46.75 points in Thursday’s Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island … but after a recount, his total was changed to 51.75 points.
As we previously reported, Patrick Bertoletti Won Joey Chestnut– Reduce going out after a fall 58 Venetian.
The final score is calculated based on the number of empty discs in each competitor’s area after the 10-minute match – each empty disc is equal to 5 glizzy, and any fragments are left to the judges.
this new york post — citing two anonymous sources — At one point after the game, Weary wandered around the stage, grabbed his opponent’s empty plate…and put it into his own.
The outlet also claims that Weary then requested a recount … which pushed his tally past the 50-dog mark, a coveted rank in the sport.
Weary has vehemently denied the accusations… saying he “didn’t steal anything” and didn’t demand a recount.
The Major League Eating Association – the competition’s governing body – issued a statement TMZ Sports … said it conducted an investigation and reviewed the video footage after learning of the claims.
MLE said: “Like many other professional sports leagues, our policy is not to overturn the judge’s decision after the final result has been recorded.” So it is unclear whether the investigation found Wery responsible for any wrongdoing.
As for Eater, he said he would accept the decision to change the outcome if the MLE found out he had done something wrong… adding that he didn’t want to get a number he didn’t get.
“I would never cheat in a game for any reason,” Weary said. “Anyone who knows me knows that.”
