More than 25 celebrities joined event founder Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado to ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel accommodations or food so they can focus on helping their children live. Salgado is the CEO of Coastal Advisors, a celebrity insurance broker, and a long-time St. Jude supporter and volunteer.
In 2010, wealthy “Big Daddy” Salgado personally organized a gathering with friends and colleagues to support St. Jude families and took time to visit the Memphis campus and learn about the power of uniting others for the greater good. importance. Founded more than 60 years ago, St. Jude makes a difference in the lives of children in the United States and around the world thanks to the support of entertainers, celebrities and donors.
Salgado and Taylor, a St. Jude patient, formed a special bond after meeting at St. Jude in Memphis more than a decade ago. Taylor, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2013, inspired Salgado and they became good friends. After two and a half years of chemotherapy, physical and occupational therapy, Taylor is now a high school graduate and an avid runner who completed his first marathon in 2023, the St. Jude Memphis Marathon® weekend, while raising funds to help other St. Jude residents. Tyler participated in the Dad Celebrity Golf Classic this year, sharing his cancer journey with attendees.
