Beverly Hills Detective: Axel F It is the fourth installment in Eddie Murphy’s long-running film series.
The show will be released on Netflix on July 4th.
this beverly hills cop The movie series is older than Eddie Murphy’s relationship with any of his ten children, and perhaps Most viewers are watching the latest episode.
But it’s easy to miss something when watching the new action comedy at home. What on earth happened?
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” Summary: Here’s the story
After decades of stagnation, beverly hills cop The series returns, with Eddie Murphy once again taking on the comedy lead role. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
beverly hills cop 4 has been technically under development since the mid-1990s. In other words, it spent that time in “development hell.” On the bright side, at least it escaped the trouble of being directed by Brett Ratner.
Axel F The story begins when the titular detective returns to Beverly Hills because his daughter Jane is in danger. She was a defense attorney representing a man suspected of killing a police officer. In shocking realism, the big bads are law enforcement officers.
Kevin Bacon clearly enjoys playing the villainous character of Captain Grant of the BHPD. He (the character, not the beloved actor) turns out to be in cahoots with a cartel.
Speaking of delightful actors, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Detective Bobby Abbott. He’s Jane’s ex, which creates some obvious tension between Jane and her father.
Judge Reinhold (fun fact: that’s just his name; he doesn’t sit on the bench) reprises his role as Axel’s PI buddy Billy. It’s a smaller role, but it might have been weird filming without him.
Apparently, there’s enough action. There are helicopters, gunfights and lots of laughs along the way.
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” ending explained
So what happened to Billy? After he asks Jane to investigate Captain Grant and then calls Axel to town, Billy disappears. The drug cartel caught him snooping and kidnapped him. Eventually, Axel and Bobby rescued him from the warehouse.
But the biggest bad thing is not a warehouse, but a mansion. He keeps Jane imprisoned (typical bad guy behavior) and plans to kill her to cover up his crime (also typical bad guy behavior).
In the final shootout, the protagonists kill cartel members and (additional) corrupt police officers.
Grant exercised his prerogative as the archrival by injuring others Beverly Hills Detective: Axel FThe titular protagonist.
Meanwhile, Bobby is the one who killed Grant. It might be a bit like the proverbial passing of the torch. 30 years later, the movie makes this clear, both in reality and in the movie.
Plus, Jane can prove that her client, the so-called cop killer, is innocent. They now have proof of what Grant did and proof that his minions framed Sam (her client). This is neat!
Movie #4 brings new nuances to the series
Axel Foley has new depth to him. Yes, even an action comedy can do that.
Jane holds him accountable for how his obsession with work alienated his family and how he didn’t do his best to maintain communication with her.
For a movie full of laughs, it ends with a tear-jerking moment when Axel admits his mistake. He and Jane seem to reconcile in the end, but it’s an emotionally charged scene.
will there be one beverly hills cop 5?
According to Eddie Murphy, a fifth installment is already being discussed. However, making a movie requires a lot of effort.
after all, beverly hills cop 4 took 30 years to become a reality. Hopefully the sequel doesn’t take so long.
