WALKER, Minn. (CelebrityAccess) — Minnesota’s long-standing music festival Moondance Jam has announced it will be cutting back on operations this year, which includes canceling several heavyweights due to financial issues.
The festival is scheduled to take place July 18-20 in Walker, Minnesota, with an initial lineup including Foghat, Kansas and Creed, Steve Augeri, The Sweet, Mason Dixon Line, Blue Oyster Cult and Switchfoot. All of these artists have been removed from the bill, which now focuses on regional artists including Mallrats, Aortic Fire, Aftershock and Weekend Rock Star.
In an announcement detailing the decision, festival organizers said:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that due to unforeseen circumstances based on the current economic climate, Moondance Jam will need to make adjustments to our lineup as we will now only be highlighting our regional acts who always bring to our Jammers A great show and the dates between 18th and 20th July 2024 went ahead as scheduled.
The Moondance Jam has been a beloved tradition in Walker, Minnesota for over 30 years, providing a platform for outstanding musical performances in a beautiful setting. However, despite our best efforts, this year we have not reached the financial threshold required to host a festival with a national tourist attraction. Given these financial obstacles, we are unable to do any national touring lineups.
We understand the disappointment this news may bring to our loyal supporters, and we share those feelings. We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing an exceptional experience, and with that in mind, we will host Moondance Camp on the same dates (July 18-20, Walker, Minnesota) to showcase regional talent that embodies the spirit and passion of Moondance. Please check our website for upcoming lineup updates.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused. All tickets purchased will be rewarded and we hope you will join us to make the most of this year’s event. We remain committed to preserving the magic of Moondance and look forward to your continued support.
Notably, it appears the festival will not be offering refunds to ticket holders following the lineup changes.
Organizers stated that ticket holders can receive 4 additional free passes at the door with their original tickets, or they can redeem passes for other events this year, including Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos (August 9) or Moondance Harvest Moon Festival (September 21) .
