(CelebrityAccess) — Veteran country band The Mavericks have announced they are canceling multiple upcoming shows because founding member, vocalist and lead guitarist Raul Malo is undergoing cancer treatment.
According to the band, affected dates include their July 12 show at the Belly Up Aspen in Aspen, Colorado, and the Mavericks’ July 14 show at the String Pavilion in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Both shows have been cancelled. The show originally scheduled for July 13 at Denver’s Paramount Theater has been postponed to August 25.
“We sincerely thank you for the outpouring of love and support for our brother Raul and the Marlo family during this time,” the band said in a statement on social media. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you,” the statement added. Sorry but thank you for your understanding and look forward to dancing with you again soon.”
Marlowe revealed the news of his cancer diagnosis to fans on Instagram, saying “cancer spots” were discovered in his digestive system during a colonoscopy and CAT scan.
Marlowe, 58, said in a video message shared with fans that he will undergo treatment this month, including chemotherapy. Marlowe’s cancer diagnosis was first reported in rolling stones.
