KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (CelebrityAccess) — Organizers of Malaysia’s Good Vibes Music Festival have announced that the event will not take place this year due to scheduling issues with the country’s Royal Coronation Ceremony.
In a statement announcing the news, festival organizers said:
As stated in the letter from the authorities on June 27, 2024, out of respect for the coronation ceremony, large-scale performances involving international artists will no longer be held on July 20, 2024, and will be rescheduled to a later date. Due to the nature of the Good Vibes Festival (GVF) which involves multiple tours over multiple days, it is not possible to reschedule the festival. As a result, Future Sound Asia announced the cancellation of the music festival originally scheduled for July 20-21, 2024.

This year’s festival will be held at Awana Resorts World on July 20-21, with a lineup including Peggy Gou, Joji, Russ, J. Balvin, Haven, Peach Pit and more.
2024 will be the second year the festival has had issues with the Malaysian government. The 2023 festival was abruptly canceled amid controversy after The 1975 frontman Matt Healy kissed a male band member on stage and criticized Malaysia’s strict laws against homosexuality.
After The 1975’s performance, Malaysian authorities shut down the remainder of the festival. Event organizers are seeking about $2.6 million in damages from the band in a legal dispute that has not been publicly resolved.
