Monitors captured the moment a massive sinkhole swallowed part of Illinois Football Park, and it was jaw-dropping, to say the least.
Look at this – a light pole at Gordon Moore Park was dramatically sucked into the ground on Wednesday… leaving a gaping hole at least 100 feet wide and 50 feet deep.
The scene was straight out of a disaster movie…the ground collapsed and smoke filled the sky.
Other exciting drone footage captures aerial views of the aftermath… truly showing the sinkhole’s massive size.
The sinkhole is thought to have been caused by an underground mine collapse – Alton Parks and Recreation Director Michael Haynes Calling the situation unusual, the mines have been in place for decades without any problems.
All scheduled park activities have been canceled while the sinkhole incident is investigated.
