Michael Easton has made a dramatic announcement about the world of daytime drama.
The veteran actor confirmed his surprise departure from General Hospital in a lengthy video shared on Instagram on Wednesday morning.
How imminent is his departure?
Easton’s final episode will air on Thursday, June 27th!
“I’ve always been partial to an Irish farewell. One where you can leave the party without having to tell anyone you’ve left,” Easton said in his farewell video. ”
“But I think you all deserve better, so I just wanted to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes on General Hospital.”
Easton created the character of John McBain on One Life to Live, which eventually moved to General Hospital in 2012.
The star exited the show along with other colleagues due to legal issues over intellectual property… but later returned as new character Silas Clay, who was killed off in August 2016.

“I’ve loved every minute of being here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for letting me share their stage for the past ten years.
“Most importantly, I want to thank you all for the kindness and love you have shown me and my family. I will never forget you. As I walk out of here for the last time and apologize to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel I am the luckiest man on earth.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that five-time Daytime Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson will return as Lucky Spencer.
Additionally, Brian Craig will reprise his role as Morgan Corinthos, the late son of Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura White), in an early August episode.
