Paris HiltonStand up for voiceless children…testify before Congress on behalf of children in the welfare system and promote their achievements in the field.
The socialite-turned-mogul testified on Capitol Hill on Wednesday about child abuse in the system, connecting it to some of her own experiences before delving into how she would address them.
Watch the video… Hilton noted that she helped outlaw several harsh discipline practices, including restraint and seclusion, and she pushed for increased on-site visits to hold foster home operators accountable.
But Paris said she’s also hopeful at the federal level… She wants Congress to reauthorize Title IVB – a federal fund for state child welfare programs – and pass the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act 》.
The bill, introduced more than a year ago and has yet to pass the House or Senate, would create a more centralized system for tracking and enforcing juvenile placements.
Of course, that’s just a small part of Paris’ testimony… as she once again detailed the physical, emotional and sexual abuse she suffered at a youth residential treatment facility.

Although not a children’s institution, Paris said she sees similarities between her own trauma and what she says many children in the system face.
This isn’t the first time Paris has rubbed elbows with politicians for the cause — she’s traveled to the White House and spoken with senators. Both sides of the aisle in 2022.
