LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Seth Brooks Binzer, better known as Shift Shellshock, the lead singer of rap-metal band Crazy Town, has died, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. He is 49 years old.
Binzer was found dead at a Los Angeles residence, according to a brief medical examiner’s report.
No further details about his death, including potential causes, have been disclosed, but Binzer has been candid about his battle with addiction, appearing on reality shows such as Celebrity Rehab 1 and 2 and Sober House 1 and 2 in the program.
Binzer is a founding member of the band Crazy Town and rose to prominence in 2000 when their hit single “Butterfly” topped the Billboard 100 chart.
The band toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and was signed to tour with Ozzfest, but was forced to withdraw from the tour after Binzer was arrested for throwing a chair through a window while drunk.
In 2002, their second album, Darkhorse, failed to generate enthusiasm among the band’s fans, and the band came to a standstill.
Binzer went on to collaborate with artists such as Paul Oakenfold and experimented as a solo artist, releasing his only solo album, Happy Love Sick, which proved to be a chart success Certainty of success.
