Shannen Doherty has a sad message to deliver.
The actress updated listeners on her ongoing breast cancer battle on the latest episode of the Let’s Be Clear podcast … telling them that the makeup of her cancer cells has changed and progressed.
therefore?
Doherty had to start chemotherapy again.
“I thought I was fine. I yes Having to go back to chemo, it’s really hard, like the thought of going through it all again has devastated me,” Doherty said on the broadcast, becoming understandably emotional.
Doherty went on to say that she will receive the treatment through a port in her chest, admitting a few years ago that when she first had to undergo the procedure, back in 2016, she suffered physically and mentally. A huge amount of consumption.
Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation shortly after.
After going into remission in 2017, Doherty announced that the cancer had returned and was classified as stage 4 in 2020.
Last year, she said the condition had spread to her brain and bones.
“It was really hard. Like, the thought of going through this again just crushed me,” Doherty said on the podcast.
It’s devastating me, and yes, I know I’m in stage 4, and yes, I know it’s really serious, and yes, I’ve taken steps to protect my family and clean up a lot of stuff.
“But when you have to go to the hospital and you have to get treatment [and] If you put a port inside you, it becomes very real in an incredibly different way.
Doherty said her unknown future is “scary,” detailing the following:
“I don’t know how long I’m going to have chemo, I don’t know if it won’t work in three months, six months or three months, if we’re going to change again,” she said.
“This is not something I could have predicted, and it’s not something my doctors could have predicted. It’s scary. It’s like a huge wake-up call.
“But at the same time, there are some positives.”
Doherty was embroiled in an ugly divorce from Kurt Isvalenko.
But she said not long ago that she’s trying to focus on what’s really important these days.
“I feel like my life has gotten rid of a lot of the clutter now and things are a lot more clear and focused,” Shanann reflected on the March 11 episode of Let’s Be Clear.
“I knew what I wanted and I knew how I wanted to wake up every morning. I just looked at things from a different perspective because that year and a half was hell.
“I can say I have a very blessed life and I’m a very lucky man.”
