What do you take with you when traveling? We’re heading to England this Friday and I’m excited to squeeze my cousins’ kids and add them to the wall! Here are the items I will bring in my carry-on and I’d love to hear your list…
1. “Always bring something red,” says my fashion friend Susan. “It looks great in the photos.” So, this bubba sweater is going to be with us.
2. This denim dress is expensive, but I’ve worn it every three days for the past three summers, so when you calculate the cost per wear, it’s less than $1.
3. How cool is Coolle’s iconic striped shirt? This colorway feels so cute, and you can find it on sale at H&M and in millions on Poshmark. (I’m also excited to bring this Nora Ephron number.)
4. After 45 years of searching, I have at last Found the perfect white shorts – 4 inch inseam, not too long, not too short, but just right.
5. What to wear on an overnight flight? My new comfort strategy is to wear a flowy top with black elastic pants. You can get a good night’s sleep, even if the wonton sauce from the airplane meal spills on them. These silk pants are the platonic ideal and I love these too.
6. For feet, I love these elegant strappy sandals or the ever-cool Birks sandals for more arch support.
7. When you’re ragged and jet-lagged, a gold hoop can make you feel a little more chic. I put them on before arriving at my destination.
8. Also very useful is a fun large tote bag—green, colorful, or metallic—to carry snacks, sunscreen, picnic blankets, and beach towels throughout the week.
9. White Daybreaks are my tried-and-true sneakers for airport jogging, cliff walks, and urban adventures. They’re versatile and would fit in any European city (if that’s where you’re headed!).
10. Finally, I brought in “The Husbands,” a fun, fast-paced book by Holly Gramazio about a woman who comes home from a party to find a man in her house. The story of the strange man…everyone said he was her husband. I’m working on getting over it but trying to pace myself! (What are you reading these days?)
idea? What do you pack? I’d love to hear about your wardrobe and other essentials!
