TAMPA (CelebrityAccess) – Rapper Julio Foolio was shot and killed in Tampa on Sunday, NBC News reports.
Police were called to a Tampa hotel shortly before dawn and found two vehicles damaged by gunfire in the hotel parking lot.
A man named Charles Jones, whose legal name was Julio Foolio, and three other victims were pronounced dead at the scene, NBC reported He is being treated at an area hospital and is in stable condition.
While investigators have not provided any information about a potential motive for the shooting, Jones has a history of alleged involvement in organized crime and accepted a plea deal in 2022 for tampering with felony evidence in Georgia.
He also admitted in an interview that he had been assassinated multiple times, including an incident in 2022 when he was shot in the foot during an alleged ambush.
According to his Instagram account, Jones was celebrating his 25th birthday at an Airbnb rental, but claimed police had shut down the party before the shooting.
In a statement provided to NBC News, Jones’ attorney said that after he was kicked out of the Airbnb, Jones and his entourage moved to the Holiday Inn where the alleged ambush took place.
Julio Foolio released his latest album, Resurrection, in April.
