This weekend, two of the most famous people in the world came together for a photo that might shatter the internet into a million little shards.
Well, maybe three.
It depends on how you feel about Travis Kelce’s place in the world.
However, there’s no denying Taylor Swift and Prince William’s fame. Prince William was pictured backstage on Friday night after celebrating his birthday on the London leg of the Swift Age Tour.
He does so with his children, but unfortunately without his wife, as Kate Middleton is still undergoing treatment and taking care of herself after being diagnosed with cancer this year.
“Happy birthday M8! Off to a great start to the London show,” Swift wrote in the caption of a photo that racked up nearly a million likes in just 20 minutes after being posted on Instagram.
You can check it out here:
As you can see, the iconic photo features Swift, William, Travis Kelce, and William’s two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The latter three attended the sold-out concert from a private suite.
“Nothing says happy 42nd birthday like taking the kids to see the @taylorswift13 #ErasTour show. Prince William will be celebrating his birthday tonight with his kids at @wembleystadium,” royal reporter Roya Nikkei tweeted Friday night Specially written.
At the same time, this event was not actually the first time Taylor met William.
In 2013, these superstars made an appearance at the Centrepoint Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace.
The future King of England later performed the rock icon’s 1986 hit “Livin’ on a Prayer” with Swift and Bon Jovi. Yes, this does happen.
In a 2021 episode of Apple Fitness+’s “Time to Walk” series, Prince William shared the story behind the unexpected viral moment.
“I can’t believe I’m actually telling this story,” he said on the show.
“I attended a charity fundraiser for Centrepoint, a young homeless charity that I love and have supported for many years. It’s an annual fundraiser and I attended, Jon Bon Jo Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift were also at the event, which almost blew my mind.”
Swift was well-liked at the time. It also worked. But it doesn’t compare to how people view her now or what she’s accomplished in the past year or so.
“When I sat down to watch Jon Bon Jovi perform, I thought, ‘That’s it. My job is done. I’m going to have dinner in a minute and maybe talk to some people. , and, you know, I’m kind of off duty now, and I almost don’t think about what’s going to happen next,” William continued in the aforementioned special.
“I was sitting next to Taylor. She was to my left. After Jon finished his first song, he paused and she turned to me. She put her hand on my arm, looked me in the eyes, and said: “Come on, William. Let’s sing.”
“To this day, I still don’t know what happened.
“Honestly, even now, I still cringe at what happened next and I don’t know why I gave in. But, frankly, if Swift looked you in the eye, touched your arm, and said, ‘Follow me’ I’ll do it…” I stood up like a puppy and said, “Yeah, well, that seems like a good idea. I’ll follow you.
Of course we will do the same.
What a great story.
What an unforgettable photo.
We just hope Middleton can enjoy a period tour before Swift wraps up her legendary tour in December.
What better motivation to get her better along the way, right?
