It’s day two of auditions in Los Angeles, and the search for America’s favorite dancer is underway exist. So if you missed last night’s show, here are all the amazing dancers who made it through day two.
Braylon Browner
Even before he started dancing, 18-year-old Braylen seemed to have won over the judges with his optimism and positive energy. But when he got into action, the judges were even more impressed. All three judges gave Braylen a standing ovation and gave him three affirmations.
Madison Rouge Alvarado
The judges had the opportunity to watch Madison’s “Just Dance” and other shows. After the jazz performance, Comfort asked Madison if she was disconnected from her personal experience during the performance, and it turns out she was: She battled an eating disorder for two years.
Madison begins to cry while talking about her trauma, and Maxim steps forward to tell her that he ” [her] corner. Her audition won Maxim and Comfort’s approval, as well as Alison’s “absolute approval,” who thanked her for her vulnerability.
Arianna Santos
Nineteen-year-old Arianna brings something different to the “SYT” scene: a little flamenco, a little hip-hop, and a lot of fusion. However, this was not integrated enough for the judges. They saw more hip-hop than flamenco and initially chose not to let Arianna pass.
But (spoiler alert!) everyone loves a second chance, and the judges are no exception. After seeing another dancer perform, Alison expressed her concerns, saying she was “kind of questioning one of the dancers.” [her] Decide. After the other judges signed off, Alison brought Arianna back and put her into the choreography session.
kelly bass
Kaylee, 27, started dancing when she was three years old. Danced. She decided to enter the “SYTYCD” competition not only to pursue her dream, but also to raise awareness about her currently incurable condition.
After her stunning performance, the judges asked Kelly if she thought her limited mobility would hinder her performance in the competition. But Kelly remains strong and says she has “no style” [she] Unable to adapt. The judges took her at her word and moved her on to the next round.
Avery Gay
Ivory entered the competition with two dancers from her home studio in Tucson, Arizona. But it was her contemporary ballet moves performed on pointe that impressed the judges. Even though they asked her to really push herself and get out of her comfort zone, Avery made it to the next round.
Cole Neville
Kerr, 22, immediately raised eyebrows (sorry, not sorry) with his performance. But on a more serious note, we’re excited to see them perform and hear Allison remind us how difficult it is to dance in heels like Cole. Maxim, Allison and Comfort gave a “resounding yes.”
Janil Mehta
Last night’s episode highlights all Fusion, and Janil’s audition was no exception. He combines Indian dance with hip-hop and contemporary dance to create performances that not only bring skill to the table but also tell a story. Comfort liked that Jainil “brought something different to the table,” and the three judges easily agreed: Yes!
Kennedy Allen
Next up is Kenedy from West Haven, Utah. Although Kenedy suffered from serious health issues growing up, she has since recovered and continues to pursue her dream of dancing.
Maxime announced that he would be participating in this round of judging as he had previously worked with Kenedy when she joined him and his brother on their SAVOR After Hours tour (NBD, Kenedy). But that didn’t stop him from giving Kenedy honest feedback, telling her it wasn’t his favorite performance. However, Alison and Comfort responded more positively to Canedy’s classic jazz solo and helped her advance to the next round.
Next week, we’ll see the auditions wrap up and we’ll find out exactly who will be vying for the title of America’s Favorite Dancer. Maybe we’ll even get to see Maxim cry at least one more time!
