Over three days you will have a great opportunity to practice the improvisational tools of Kidd Pivot and the repertoire of Crystal Pite with former dancer Jiří Pokorný.
Jiří Pokorný was born on July 25, 1981 in Prague and is a Czech choreographer living in The Hague, Netherlands. In 2000 he graduated from the National Dance Academy in Prague and continued dancing with Laterna Magika in Prague. Three years later he joined Nederlands Dans Theater 2 in The Hague and continued working in NDT1. After seven years at NDT, Jiri joined KiddPivot in Vancouver, under the leadership of Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite. Jiri has collaborated with many famous choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Paul Lightfoot, Sol Leon and Crystal Pite. The workshop is held exclusively for SHARE The Dance Intense. Each day will begin with a warm-up lasting 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes on the improvisational tools used by Kidd Pivot, led by Jiří Pokorný, and then continue with a 4-hour repertory workshop on Crystal Pite’s works.
January 17, 19, 2025: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
January 18, 3pm to 8pm
Dancers submitting applications will need to possess strong dance technique and physical fitness and/or any other background that supports their participation in this workshop. All applicants must be professional or semi-professional dancers, movers or performers and be at least 16 years old. You must provide a video link (Vimeo or Youtube) of up to 1 minute of improvisational dance or solo dance. There is no collective work. No Instagram or Facebook link. Complete and detailed resume needs to be uploaded (maximum 15Mb) or via web link (Google drive, website, etc.)
Accepted dancers will be notified via email within 3 days with all further steps required to join us.
We have several rooms located in the Eden ***** studios, which are easily accessible by public transportation and other means.
