Alex shared, “When I first read the character of teenage Kate, I was captivated by the depth and complexity of the writing,” Alex said. “Rarely do you come across a supporting character whose journey feels so meaningful and so relatable to the title character played by Chyler Leigh.” Reflecting on her role in Teenage Kate, she added, ” Teenage Kate is going through the turmoil of growing up, family expectations, and her own emotions, and the writing captures all of that in such an honest way, not to mention, it’s all taking place in the ’90s, which is a period of time for me. An incredible journey. Kate’s story forced me to think about the strength it takes to embrace imperfection and the courage it takes to make peace with the past. I think this is something that resonates universally and I’m honored to be able to bring it to life.
Alex also highlighted how the show connects her to fans of all generations. As she explains, “The show allows me to connect with such a broad and diverse audience even though my character only appears in one timeline,” and “themes of family, love, and resilience resonate with all ages and It’s rewarding to know that people of all generations can see a part of themselves in at least one of the characters. Conversations between families and audiences from all walks of life, and this show makes that possible.
When asked what viewers can expect this season, she shared, “As viewers have seen so far, we’re now exploring the 1970s and delving into Colton and Del’s past. There’s going to be a lot of questions. be answered, but of course, in the classics way home Fashion-wise, there will be a lot of new storylines to be revealed. Alex also opened up about what inspired her to pursue a career in acting. “I admit, my love for acting is pretty selfish. Don’t get me wrong, I love putting a smile on people’s faces, but what’s kept me in the game for so long is intrinsic motivation,” she shared. “Performing has always allowed me to explore emotions that I wouldn’t normally touch upon in my daily life. I’m not someone who naturally experiences extreme emotions, but acting has created a space for me to do so in a way that’s both therapeutic and true to myself. Release those feelings. Not only did I develop a crazy sense of self-awareness in terms of how to activate those emotions, but because of that, I started to view acting as one of the best exercises in empathy that you do in order to bring a character to life. You get a series of actions and reactions on paper and your job is to understand and justify their reactions and fill in the gaps. Connecting and respecting the authenticity of the character is an ongoing challenge for me as an actor and as a person. They all feel very accomplished.
