Asking where Alexander/Memphis might have a live fire at Toad
Kate Gulag
This stop is located at Toad’s Place Ask Alexander Their “All My Friends” tour was one of three consecutive sold-out tours. Among the friends they brought with them were Memphis May Fire, The Word Alive and the Archers.
The area around the Toad Shop was crowded. It’s located across the street from Yale University and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Before you enter you must sign a waiver that basically states “You cannot sue Toad or its affiliates if you fall on our slippery floors or get injured while playing.” You then have to pass a metal detector and wand test before you can cross the threshold of the club.
OMG this place is packed! Some of them were even followers of the first band, the Archers, whom I wasn’t familiar with. Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, they consist of Oscar Porter (bass/vocals), Nathanael Pulley (vocals), Ben Kohler (guitar), and Grayson Mesarosh (drums). Archers quickly composed seven songs and included tracks from their two EPs, all i have left and new normal.

They kicked things off with “Drag Me Out,” “Making Eyes,” “Say This Sober” and new single “Made For Love.” I love that Porter and Pulley sang together, but Pulley’s voice was overpowered by the music. His performance was clear as he thanked the crowd and gave requisite shoutouts to other acts on the bill. ‘Before You Go’, ‘Bitter’ and ‘Blackmarketmonkeymagic’ closed out the Archers set. I love the variety of their catalog, from no rants to all rants. Check it out for yourself!
People continued to file into the club as The Word Alive took the stage for a quick set. The metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona have gone through a lot of staff turnover during their journey, but they’ve been putting out new music almost every two years. They have seven studio albums and have selected a set from five of them. Tyler Smith (vocals), Daniel Nelson (drums), Jose Del Rio (guitar) and I Believe Logan Abernethy (guitar).

The title song “Hard Reset” kicked off their performance, and then fraud“The Dogs of Anubis” dark matterof “trapped” and hard reset“Night Future”. The band had a lot of energy and fans responded more positively to the second half of the show. Taylor thanked the crowd and all the actions. they wrap Paranoid‘s “Death Is Only the End If You Assume the Story Is About You,” the title track “Life Cycles” and another hard reset The track “One of Us”. The Word Alive had sound issues and relied more on growling vocals (which fans ate up). They’re a great addition to the lineup, so give them a listen and see if they fit your vibe.
When “Memphis May Fire” took the stage, the audience was enthusiastic, and the urge to surf and jump came from them in waves. I’m sure the band members felt the same way as they took up their respective positions. Matty Mullins (vocals), Kellen McGregor (guitar/backing vocals), Cory Elder (bass) and Jake Garland (drums) kick off Eleven with “Necessary Evil,” taken from three of their seven studio albums The intro to the first track, the 2024 single. Crowd surfing starts from the first note. three obedience recast in suffering Shared stage with “Left For Dead”, “Bleed Me Dry” and “Somebody”. The sound quality was clear and everyone had a great time.
Very different from the last time I saw them, which was at the first Capulet Festival. A version of this infamous local festival did take place, but was plagued by sound and other issues that marred MMF’s performance. This show gives them the justice they deserve. Marty speaks to excited crowd “Because of you, we are here! Buy things and come out to watch the show! The club was packed and even when the music stopped the crowd surfing didn’t stop.

challenger“bad habits” and HollowThey sang “The Sinner” before Marty addressed the fans again “Come on, New Haven! Let’s do it!. He waved his arms from side to side, and the crowded club imitated him, “Jump!” His orders were again obeyed. “Thank you so much, you are a beautiful bunch! We are always putting out new songs. Did you all like what you just heard? Mind if we do a new one now? I want a long song. Yes, I want to listen to you along Sing! You know what time it is in New Haven!.
It’s a prelude to their 2024 single “Chaotic.” “Y’all are so cool. Drop the other bands. I feel like I’m playing a new game, New Haven y’all are so cool. Another single “Infection” has also been released. “New Haven, would you like to be a member of my next choir?” “Make Believe” was a song followed by a series of mobile phones. “Connecticut, can we be louder this time? Prove it! Four cannons fired straight smoke. “New Haven, are you still with us?” The bouncing crowd clearly was. “Our pain is as important as our joy. Are you ready? “Pain” is the answer, and I couldn’t agree more.
There were quite a few Memphis May Flames fans in the room and I saw everyone from the front barricade to the soundboard knew the lyrics. Smoke bombs sounded again in the ending song “Blood & Water”. Marty announced “I want a video of all your beautiful faces!” They turned on the lights in the house to shoot video, so surfers and surfers finally took a break. “We love this city! Promise you we’ll be back! Thank you for an incredible night!. Check out this veteran metalcore band on the rise! The Memphis May Fire is from Denton, Texas, 240 miles from Memphis, Texas, and 488 miles from Memphis, Tennessee.
Ask Alexander is a hardcore/metalcore band from the UK. Their band members have come and gone, but have still released nine studio albums since their early days. Fan favorites Danny Worsnop (vocals/guitar), left-hand guitarist Cameron Liddell, Sam Bettley (bass), James Cassells (drums) and Paul Bartolome (guitar/backing vocals) were greeted by a raucous crowd ready to jump. And Mosh. There are also jumps and crowd surfing.
Ask Alexander‘s sixteen songs refer to six of their nine studio albums. They opened it with the combo “Welcome/Dear Crazy” Reckless and ruthless. They were fucking loud. As I spoke, the floor shook violently. After “Down To Hell” ended, the lights came on in the house and Danny thanked and greeted the enthusiastic fans. Then he started talking nonsense. “This is my third shirt of the day, I always spill stuff.”
We all just stared and blinked. “I was procrastinating because a bunch of stuff just stopped working. I don’t usually talk about fashion here. I started to feel uncomfortable, I kept feeling uncomfortable, and before we walked on stage (gesturing to his left) he said, ‘Tonight I’m going to It feels good. “ This caused laughter and cheers. “What are you cheering for? This is the show! The whole show! Good night!. Fans said “Oops”.
Danny quickly announced “We’re back!” “Jump! Jump! Get the fuck up! Are you here to have fun or something? Then let’s have a fucking good time! a track from Ask Alexander“Into the Fire,” the floor kept moving. The music was louder than Danny’s voice, but I could still understand him. The crowd was there and they were singing it word for word. “Where Did It Go?” keeps rolling, but the vocals are completely lost in the quieter parts.
“Okay, okay, just in the middle of the room. Clear a path. You all know how this works.” I couldn’t believe my eyes. “Dark Void” staged on Toad’s mini death pit wall Where should we go from here?. Next Danny and the guitarists signaled for the pit to begin. “James wanted to play his favorite song. I said, James, if you send me a picture of you in a compromising position, we’ll do it. So, this is James’ favorite song! It’s “things could have been different”. “Are you bringing your singing?”

We got Danny and the acoustic version of “Someone, Somewhere.” I really appreciated the break from the ear assault and Danny’s voice was really showcased. The crowd continues to surf. Ask Alexander Feed it to the hungry. “I Don’t Need You” comes from like a house on firefrom death of fate‘s “Moving On”, “To The Stage” and two songs from stand up and scream“If you can’t ride two horses at the same time…you should leave the circus” and “A prophecy”. What a wonderful night!
The audience went crazy for the “final episode”. Danny yelled, “Thank you so much!” and the room darkened. The partying and surfing continued and everyone chanted for more. The orchestra soon came out again. “We’ll do one more thing for you”. Another one is “Don’t Pray for Me.” “We said one more thing, but do you mind if we do two? Now is your last chance! Do you want to go surfing and partying or something? This is your last chance! Now!
I’ve been to a lot of shows, but I’ve never seen such a crowd at Toad’s. Mainly thanks for the security of the venue. They single out surfers from the crowd and lift them over the obstacles one by one with ease and expertise. all! night! Long! These energetic fans were treated to the band’s most famous single, “Alone in a Room.”
The venue and so many people made for a really fun show. last time i saw Ask Alexander They opened for Sisser and Stander. There was some kind of medical incident in the pit area at that show, so they had to pause the show for a while. No one really danced, jumped, or moved after that. Worst crowd ever. In a club environment like this, with all the loyal fans, it makes for a better experience. Check it out for yourself.
