Sean “Diddy” Combs appears to be in major legal trouble.
The rapper and businessman was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on Monday, September 16, after being indicted by a grand jury.
According to TMZ, Homeland Security agents swooped into the premises and possibly searched Dede’s room, taking the celebrity into custody on a sealed indictment filed in the Southern District of New York.
We’re expected to learn more details about the specific charges on Tuesday.
“Earlier tonight, federal agents arrested Sean Combs on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.
“We anticipate unsealing the indictment in the morning and will have more information to say at that time.”
Back in March, Diddy’s home was raided by authorities.
Federal agents have raided two properties owned by the controversial musician… who has been accused by multiple alleged victims of sexual assault and sex trafficking.
For example, ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura said Diddy raped her in 2018.
In May, CNN obtained surveillance video from 2016 that showed Diddy grabbing Cassie outside an elevator… throwing her to the ground… and kicking her multiple times.
“It’s very difficult to reflect on the darkest moments of your life,” Combs responded at the time, adding via Instagram:
“Sometimes you have to do it. I was fucked up. I mean I hit rock bottom, but I have no excuse. My behavior in that video is inexcusable.
“I take full responsibility for my actions in this video.”
While it’s unclear what charges the 54-year-old Didi faces, Didi’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said he had been awaiting legal action.
“In anticipation of these charges, he voluntarily moved to New York last week,” the lawyer said in a statement to E! News.
“Please reserve judgment until all the facts are known. These were the actions of an innocent man who had nothing to hide and who looked forward to clearing his name in court.
On June 7, Howard University, a historically black college and university, revoked the rapper’s honorary degree after multiple sickening accusations were leveled against him.
Three days later, New York City Mayor Eric Adams asked the musician to return his keys to the city.
Diddy was recently ordered to pay a $100 million default judgment in a civil lawsuit filed by a Michigan prisoner accusing Diddy of sexual assault.
“We are disappointed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s decision to unfairly prosecute Mr. Combs,” Agnifilo said late Monday.
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the past 30 years building a Empire, loved his children, and worked to uplift the black community. He was an imperfect man, but he was not a criminal.
“To his credit, Mr. Combs has been cooperating with this investigation, and last week he voluntarily moved to New York in anticipation of these charges…
“These were the actions of an innocent man who had nothing to hide and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
