sister wives The first episode of Season 19 has been anxiously awaited by fans for nearly a year.
A lot has happened since we last saw the Brown family on TV. The relationship has broken down. A new baby is born.
Unfortunately, however, the biggest story to make headlines since the show last aired was the death of Garrison Brown, one of Janelle and Cody’s oldest sons.
Obviously, the biggest question facing fans following his death is how the show will handle such a delicate subject. Will they show footage of family members grieving? Will the camera capture the funeral?
Now that the show has aired, we finally have some answers
‘Sister Wives’ Season 19 Premiere Recap: A Divided House Is Unbearable
A divided house cannot stand. This is the title of the first episode of the season, which sparks real tension between all members of the Brown family.
Cody really didn’t fit in with each of his ex-wives, and his marriage to Robin didn’t look good.
Season 19 begins a week after the season 18 finale.
This is important to realize, because it seems unlikely that this episode would delve into Garrison’s passing if it were to go back in time.
But in a sense it is.
Before the episode began, producers shared a message explaining the show’s timeline. After explaining that the episodes were filmed before Garrison’s death, they expressed their condolences, adding that Garrison was “much loved and deeply missed.”
Just like that, the show began.
Kody and Robyn ‘struggle’ in their monogamous marriage
As shown in the Season 18 finale, a week after Cody finally officially ended his relationship with Meri, he and his remaining wife, Robin, visited Coyote Pass.
They looked out over the vast expanse of land that had once been the site of their family compound. But the family is no longer together. Christine explained that she no longer owns a stake in Coyote Pass and has moved on completely. Cody believes Janelle and Meri will do the same now.
“This is our dream as a family,” he told Robin. “But we’re not one big happy family anymore. We’re just people with property.
But Robin remains hopeful. She said she wanted “healing,” especially with Janelle, since Meri’s breakup had just happened and Kristen refused to talk to Kody.
As the episode continued, it became clear that being the last woman standing by Cody’s side was taking a toll on Robin.
“We’re probably doing the worst thing in our marriage. It’s hard,” Robin explained after Kody admitted they were struggling.
“He didn’t know where to blame: himself or one of the other wives.”
Jenelle stands up for her kids, including Garrison
When viewers check out Jenelle, she seems to be in a good spot. Her life seems to be full thanks to her children and her friendship with Christine.
However, that doesn’t mean she still doesn’t resent Cody, as she says he put her through so much hell and, more importantly, her kids.
“He stopped at nothing to fix it,” Janelle explains of Cody and his relationship with the kids, which includes poor Garrison, as well as Logan, Gabe, Savannah, Hunter and Madison.
Speaking of Maddie, she revealed that she and her family are looking for a change, and what’s more, Jenelle is rumored to be coming with them!
“We’re just going to look at the property in Montana,” Maddie told the older Brown children. “Property that can be built upon.”
In her confessional, Kristen shared her joy over the news and what it means to Jenelle. “I know this is the secret,” she said in the interview. “What’s more, Jenelle is talking about possibly moving in with them.”
Jenelle admitted that she didn’t feel any connection to Arizona after her split from Cody. “Flagstaff doesn’t feel permanent anymore, and if I had another choice, I probably would have chosen it.”
Cody was outraged when producers fed him the information.
“I’m not going to talk about her,” Cody said of his daughter, Maddie. exist consistently.
That’s when Cody goes on the attack
“They know I have FOMO about my family, the fear of missing out, okay?” he said in a confessional interview. “So anything they do to exclude me is punishment.”
Yeah…that’s why they do it…sigh.
baby shower showdown
At one point, Kody claimed he was in a “dark place” because he felt Kristen and Janelle “disgusted” him and “turned his kids” against him as punishment.
It’s a tough pill to swallow, considering that much of the episode takes place at Mykelti’s twin baby sprinkles – it’s a family event and she also specifically invites Kody and Robyn, even though they’re with her ‘s mother, Christine, has always been at odds.
There is a lot to look forward to before the party. Both admitted they were “nervous” as they hadn’t seen each other in more than a year.
McKelty called the family’s situation “heartbreaking,” but if she hoped having her parents in the same room would change anything, she was sadly mistaken.
The footage of the party is very awkward, with Kristen staying as far away from Robin and Cody as possible. At one point, poor Mykelty is literally the only thing standing between her parents until Christine takes action and leaves the room.
It was uncomfortable to watch, to say the least.
Meri, Meri, not so much the opposite Season premiere
Missing from all of these storylines is Meri, Cody’s first and last ex-wife.
Despite everything that happened, it turned out that Jenelle and Kristen didn’t know about Meri’s breakup with Kody.
No one knows what steps Meri is willing to take next.
Meri has been traveling to Las Vegas, the home of the Brown family, for years to visit her friend Brandi. She revealed that she was ready to end her spiritual marriage.
Cody has apparently said some incredibly hurtful things since we last saw them, like that he won’t “pursue or date” Meri right now. He also apparently told Meri that he never “loved her” and “had to marry her,” which meant nothing to Meri
“When a single young man meets a single woman, why would he choose to marry her without loving her and forcefully love her?” she mused in her confession.
Meri explains to Brandi that she has a lot to figure out right now, like where she’s going to live and how to move on with her life. She started crying thinking of all the “memories” she now needed to let go of.
“It’s not something to celebrate,” Meri admitted, before taking a further swipe at Cody.
Women joked that he married more women so he could maintain his polygamous lifestyle. But, according to Meri, that’s no longer what Cody wants.
Meri said Cody told her, “Polygamy is unfair to women.” For a man who had been in multiple marriages for more than 30 years, this was quite a shocking statement.
But whether he actually believes that remains to be seen, since that’s where the plot ends.
