Horse Band/City and Color Live at College Street
Ralph Beauchamp
horse band and Cities and colors On September 7, 2024, they launch a high-energy co-headlining tour at College Street Music Hall in New Haven, with direct support from Nolan Taylor. I’ve been waiting for these two bands for a while but there always seemed to be a roadblock.
Opening tonight is singer/songwriter Nolan Taylor. He was accompanied by Nashville (via Kentucky) guitarist Clarke Sexton, who was Taylor’s perfect aural partner. Nolan grew up in a small town in Ohio and excelled at sports as a youth, but found his true love when he picked up a left-handed guitar in high school. Nolan kind of reminds me of Jason Isbell in that his songs depict the darker side of life. His folk country style fits perfectly with his dark persona.

Nolan’s work is filled with sadness, heartbreak, and redemption. Songs like “Darkness” touch on themes of suicide and melancholy, but the lilting melody is perfectly harmonious. Nolan knows how to capture both elements in one track. Another song, “Double Life,” is based on the real-life experience of a cheating musician. His most powerful tune is “68.” It’s a song about his estranged mother, and Nolan’s powerful and emotional voice takes center stage. Every ounce of his emotion comes out and the audience feels his unique pain. Nolan is a unique talent with huge potential.
Next up was the band I actually came to see. Cities and colors is the brainchild of incredible Canadian artist Dallas Green. Green’s vocals are thrilling and gripping. His music packs an emotional punch that makes you feel its power with every inch of your soul. Green is also a member of the famous group Alexisonfire. He has been nominated for and won several Juno Awards. Green is a great musical force.
musicians are Cities and colors They are also extraordinary. Longtime multi-instrumentalist Matt Kelly delivers a flawless performance. Leon Power does a great job on drums. Bassist Erik Nielsen’s playing is engaging and guitarist Johnny 99’s performance is outstanding. The whole band is tight and their vibe is pure. The atmosphere in the band is one of extreme sobriety. Rather than a face-on-your-face explosion of coolness, it leaves you quietly immersed in their music.
The song “Weightless” opened the show and the audience was immediately captivated. I’m surprised they have so many fans at home. From there, Cities and colors Continuing the groove with “The Love Still Held Me Near” from their 2023 album of the same name. In fact, nearly half of the collection comes from love still keeps me close Including “Aftermath” and “Destined”. College Street is intoxicated with a heavenly aura Cities and colors is releasing.

Green’s voice dominates throughout. His soulful vibrations are dramatic and bring an avalanche of sonic textures. “Living in the Lights,” “Waiting for…” and “Silver and Gold” followed. At this time, everyone was completely immersed in awe. What follows are two standout songs from the new record. “Hard, Hard Time” and “Underground” were simply shameless and had the whole crowd cheering. After “Fragile Bird”, Cities and colors The big gun was taken out. “The Lover Returns” was a huge hit. “Sleeping Sickness” once again has fans singing along. Tonight ends with a medley of “Sometimes (I Wish)” and Sade’s “No Ordinary Love,” Cities and colors Clearly overcome.

horse band The stage is on fire. From the first song to the last note, the audience was captivated by the band’s spellbinding panache. There’s a dogged intensity to every song. Bridwell didn’t say much and let the songs do the talking, which seemed to work out well for everyone involved. Songs like “Laredo” showcase their strong songwriting and deliver a beautiful richness in the air. “Crutches” is another fan-favorite, with its head bouncing and its body swaying. Their hit song “No One’s Gonna Love You” received a standing ovation and chorus from the audience.
Through their performances, horse band Morph exotic textures to energize your audience. Their rendition of “Are There Any Ghosts” was mesmerizing. Its mesmerizing rhythm literally swallowed up the entire house. “General Concrete”, “Great Salt Lake” and “Light” all bring about a series of layered and imaginative images. horse band It ends with a large version of “Funeral”. All in all, the orchestra definitely put on a great show with many memorable moments.
