In a clip from this Sunday’s season premiere of the TLC series, Meri sits down with a friend to get candid about Kody Brown…the former polygamist whom Meri is legally/spiritually married to Thirty years.
“Honestly, I feel bad for him,” Meili said in an interactive preview on TODAY’s website.
Meri was married to Kody back in 1994, but Kody filed for divorce in 2014 so that he could marry Robyn Brown and legally adopt her from a previous relationship of children.
And yet: Mellie stayed by Cody’s side for years…even after it became apparent that Cody didn’t really pay attention to her anymore.
And stopped sleeping with her entirely.
In the aforementioned season premiere clip, Meri’s friend says she believes Cody is going through a “super weird midlife crisis,” prompting Meri to respond:
“That’s what it feels like.”
Her friends didn’t entirely agree, though.
“Okay, let’s be honest. He’s always been Cody, but at least he’s kinder to you,” she told Meri. “I don’t think he’s tried it in a few years.”
In a subsequent confessional, Meri opened up about her long-standing troubles with Kody.
“To be honest, I’ve had this feeling for a long time that he was saying these things to try to push me out. Because if he could push me out and I leave, he’s not a bad person because he didn’t walk away, ” she explained to the camera.
In the trailer for the new season of Sister Wives, Kody lashes out at his ex, saying he should never have married Meri.

Kody and Meri announced their decision to end their marriage in January 2023.
“After more than a decade of navigating our relationship in our unique ways, we have decided to permanently end our marriage,” the couple said in a joint statement at the time.
Meri added at the time that she had no ill will toward the Brown family patriarch.
“There is much more to tell about this story, and I promise you, my truth will be told,” Meri said a year and a half ago, adding:
“But now, I’m at peace and I have no animosity toward Cody. I don’t now and I pray I never will enjoy making rude and derogatory comments about him, or seeing you make rude and derogatory comments about him. Comment.
