Catelynn Lowell tells something very personal and quite painful.
The Teen Mom alum told social media fans on Monday that she and her husband, Tyler, have been cut off from their daughter Carly, the 14-year-old girl the couple gave up for adoption in 2009.
As you might imagine, Caitlin was also very unhappy with how things turned out.
“Adoption is so crazy,” Caitlyn wrote in an Instagram Story on September 9, adding:
“I was blocked all because I sent updates and photos of her sisters… Is this fair to Carly and her siblings?”
When we met the reality star on 16 and Pregnant, MTV viewers learned about Carly and how Kaitlynn and Tyler made the decision to give her up.
Last summer, on an episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, the two had the chance to reunite with Carly and their three other children, Novalee, 9, Vaeda, 5, and Rya, 2 ) and enjoy this special opportunity together.
But since then, things have taken an unfortunate turn.
In her latest post, Lowell said she was “extremely sad” about the broken relationship, although her focus was primarily on the children involved.
“When you’re a birth mother, you have no say…no control,” Caitlin said. “All I can do is show Carly in the future how much effort I put in and continue to do that…she can make her own decisions about who is shutting out who.”
Lowell also tried to make it clear that she wasn’t trying to make Carly’s adoptive parents “angry” with her message.
“I was really just sharing how I was feeling and not calling them any hurtful names or anything,” she said, although Lowell clearly hinted that the unnamed mom and dad made the Wrong decision.
It’s a frustrating situation, especially when you think about how positively Caitlin has spoken about Carly’s adoptive parents in the past.
“At the end of the day, I think her parents felt scared/threatened because Carly would ask why we weren’t together anymore, why we couldn’t fly to her for the weekend, etc.,” Caitlin said about this time.
“I will always support Carly’s love for her parents. They loved her and raised her! But the fact that they kept us distant doesn’t help Carly.
As for Taylor, he fully supports his wife expressing her emotions when talking about her adoption experience.
“Most people will never know what it is like to grow, to nurture, to love, and to hold such a beautiful, perfect innocence as your own child… only to painfully let go of that natural connection with another person and do what you know for Things your kids can’t do,” the reality star said in May.
