Entering the new season The Masked Singer is a celebrity who wears elaborate ship’s clothing.
But who is behind this intricate look?
The Masked SingerFox’s #1 unscripted show will return for its 12th season this September. This means that a new star cast will be hidden under the refined overall.
In the first preview of the show, we meet Ship, who establishes himself as the winner with a stellar performance.
But do they also give themselves away in the first note? Let’s discuss it!
Who is the boat in “The Masked Singer”?
The season premiere won’t air on Fox until Wednesday, September 25, but fans can still join judges Ken Jeong, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg in guessing the identity of one of the contestants.
In our first look at the show, we meet Ship, a performer filled with nautical details from head to toe. The steampunk gown comes complete with an anchor, pirate paraphernalia and a wig, which we’re sure Shonda Rimes is wearing for Queen Charlotte next season. bridgeton!
The enigmatic singer performed a slow, almost eerie version of the Bastille’s “Pompeii” to the delight of the judges. Judging from their expressions, they were clearly blown away by the singer’s vocal range and the song’s cover.
But who could be behind the mask? Fans came up with some strong theories almost immediately.
Who is the ship? Hints, clues and guesses
New clues added this season will be “strategically embedded in costumes, song selections and stage moments.” This means that even before the season premieres, fans will be able to decipher clues from Shipp’s appearance and song choices.
For us, there’s a clear front-runner, but we’ve also included a few other guesses:
Anne Lennox
The Eurythmics singer has a legendary voice, and although the British accent is not very prominent, the high notes are still understandable if you listen carefully. Also, if the song choice is a clue, one of the most popular dance groove videos is the song “Here Comes The Rain Again,” which takes place during a storm. The first performance of the boat was really rain or shine!
Tracy Chapman
The beloved Grammy winner isn’t much of a performer, but she’s enjoyed a renaissance over the past two years after Luke Combs covered her classic song “Fast Car.” The two even performed the song together at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Honestly, we can hear it in the sound.
Cher
Now, this would be a huge bonus for The Masked Singer. Honestly, all of these women would be awesome. But Cher has “retired,” so having her perform live now only adds to the excitement. Many fans are talking on the Internet, thinking that she is the clearest guess. They are looking for “clues” in her clothing as evidence. Remember when she filmed “If I Could Turn Back Time” on a Navy ship?
