TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) – Canadian music education charity MusiCounts has announced that 74 schools across Canada will receive $1 million worth of instruments, equipment and equipment through its school funding program.
These programs—MusiCounts Band-Aid Program and MusiCounts Slaight Family Foundation Innovation Fund—are designed to provide grants to under-resourced schools to keep school music programs viable.
Additionally, for the first time this year, the MusiCounts Slaight Family Innovation Fund will support this effort, providing schools with up to $20,000 for projects that are culturally relevant or technologically cutting-edge.
“MusiCounts is excited to welcome students back to school and back into the music world by investing $1 million worth of much-needed instruments and equipment,” said Kristy Fletcher, President of MusiCounts. “When students return to the music classroom, they will not only find guitars, drums , French horn and turntable, they will also find a safe space in school where they can connect with their peers, build confidence, and find their own interests. Congratulations to all the MusiCounts School Music Program winners!
The programs have helped schools like Gilbert Patterson Secondary School in Lethbridge, Alta., which can only accommodate a third of its students in music classes due to low inventory and damaged instruments. With the support of MusiCounts, the school is able to expand its existing rock band program and ensure that all interested students can participate.
