(CelebrityAccess) — British keyboardist and long-time member of goth rock band The Cure Roger O’Donnell has revealed that he is undergoing treatment for a “rare and aggressive” form of lymphoma.
“Last September I was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of lymphoma. I ignored the symptoms for months but finally went for a scan and the results of the post-surgery biopsy were devastating. O’Donnell shared the news on social media on Friday.
He went on to note that he had successfully completed the 11-month course of treatment and reported that he was doing well.
“I’m fine and the prognosis is great, and the crazy ax murderer knocked on the door and we didn’t respond. Cancer can be beaten, but if you’re diagnosed early enough, you have a better chance, so I guess It says get tested, if you have the faintest idea that you might have symptoms, get tested. O’Donnell added.
He went on to encourage his fans to support anyone they know who may be suffering from the disease and thanked his medical team, friends and family for their support during his treatment.
“Finally, if you know someone who is sick or suffering, talk to them, every word will help, trust me, I know,” he said.
O’Donnell has been a member of The Cure in some form since 1987 and has also served as a touring and session keyboardist for a number of artists while pursuing a solo career. His latest album, “7 Different Words for Love”, was released in 2022 through his record label 99X/10.
