James McAvoy Said he took some inspiration for his psychopathic character from “Speak No Evil” by a pretty famous guy…explained that the character’s toxic masculinity was based on influential people Andrew Tait.
The actor revealed the surprising connection in an interview with Empire magazine… He said that in a sense, he considered his character to be Tate from the Country – the character’s attitude focused Yu teaches men to become men again.
James said he was more humble in his role than Tate was in his diatribes…but the undercurrent of toxicity was very clear.
McAvoy added that while he did add muscle to the role, he was still playing it more subdued than an angry hyper-masculine man… basically saying he didn’t want to hit audiences with the character.
