Lauri Peterson’s son Josh Waring dies at 35: His troubled past
“It is with a broken heart that I write this to let you know that my sweet Josh left this earth on Easter Sunday,” Peterson wrote on her official Instagram page.
Walling’s death has now been confirmed as an accidental overdose of fentanyl, methamphetamine and olanzapine, an antipsychotic drug.
Page Six obtained the autopsy report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Department in California, which provides the sad news.
In her post, Peterson included numerous photos of Josh — from childhood snapshots to photos of him and daughter Kenady — and also wrote passionately about her late son’s life and death.
“No one can prepare you for this feeling of deep loss,” she wrote, adding, “Every fiber of my body hurts.”
Waring, who has made headlines for a series of legal troubles in recent years, pleaded guilty to drug charges in 2022 after being found in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine. He was sentenced to two years in prison.
Waring also served four years in prison for attempted murder in 2016 after he shot and killed a man named Daniel Lopez outside a sober home.
“Josh’s childhood was filled with deep wisdom, humor, mischief, sports, skiing, bodyboarding, reading, friends and his love of music,” Peterson wrote.
“Even through difficult times in his adult life, Josh maintained his sense of humor, continued to be optimistic, continued to be kind to others, defended those who couldn’t protect themselves, and continued to love his family so deeply!”

Peterson acknowledged at one point her son’s “difficulties in adulthood” and said the “challenges” were too great for him on the day of his death, concluding with the following direct remarks:
