Brittany Cartwright is moving on with her life.
But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
As previously reported, the Bravo personality has filed for divorce from Jax Taylor after about five years of marriage.
She did so a few months after the couple separated.
“It’s been a big week,” Cartwright admitted on the Aug. 30 episode of her and Jax’s joint podcast “When Reality Strikes,” the first time she’s commented on the legal breakup.
A dedicated reality star, Cartwright then teased The Valley Season 2:
“Unfortunately, I can’t go into details because everything has been heavily documented on the show since we’re filming now.
“You’ll see how it all goes once the show airs, but I will say this: This season has been the most difficult season I’ve ever shot.”
Cartwright and Taylor’s relationship was captured on camera, but the former says it’s still a challenge to see something so personal play out in public:
“I never thought I would experience something so personal and painful while the world was watching. I don’t say this to make anyone feel bad, but I know this is the life I have chosen, and in many ways I am Lucky. I always want to be honest with you.
Taylor had cheated on Cartwright before, but the two eventually worked things out.
This time, we can’t say for sure whether infidelity played a role in the divorce.
Brittany emphasized on this podcast that one thing is for sure: the divorce is not a publicity stunt.
“My decision to apply was not one I made lightly or quickly. It took me many, many years to get to this point and gain enough courage and strength to do what was best for me and free myself from toxic relationships and ultimately seeing your own worth,” she said.
“It’s been very difficult, but I’m stronger than ever… My motivation is my son, my Cruz, who deserves a happy and healthy mother.
“Going forward, Jax and I will be producing separate podcasts.”
Cartwright and Taylor married in 2019 and have three-year-old son Cruz.
Taylor discussed the separation with Us Weekly in March and denied any suggestions of living together, as follows:
“I want people to know that it’s possible to raise and run a business together and live in harmony with each other.
“Not everyone gets divorced because of cheating. Believe it or not, that’s not the case. I know it’s shocking. We just don’t communicate right now, that’s all…
“We’re taking some time for ourselves.”
