As RR explains it, the sequence itself didn’t work… and the only reason it didn’t make it to the cutting room floor immediately was because of Rob’s performance.
Reynolds said he brought a lot of intensity to the event and was grateful that his close friend flew to London just for him…but, it wasn’t meant to be.
However, Ryan did reveal the fate of Rob’s character… admitting that a giant creature ate him and eventually expelled him from his body – not exactly a heroic ending for Rob.
We already knew that Rob’s cameo was ultimately cut – because he let everyone know about it the day the movie came out.

He shared a photo posing side by side with Hugh Jackman On set, he joked that the theater he went to must have accidentally cut his part because he flew 6,000 miles to shoot the movie and he knew Ryan wouldn’t do that to him.
FWIW… Deadpool & Wolverine returned to the top of the box office in its fifth week, and Wrexham won 2 of its first 3 league games – so, we bet these two friends are pretty excited, even with Unfortunate editing.
