Before marrying into one of America’s most famous families, Cheryl Hines went through a difficult divorce. Can we still go in that direction?
Of course, Cheryl is a long-time Hollywood veteran, best known for curb your enthusiasm.
Since 2014, she has been the wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a controversial politician currently running for president as an independent.
That could soon change, and so could their marital status, as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. himself hinted that a separation might best suit Cheryl’s public persona.
But we were a little ahead of ourselves. Let’s start with the fact that if Cheryl is getting divorced, she knows how to deal with it.
Cheryl Hines’ divorce: Her first marriage to Paul Young ended quickly
In 2002, Cheryl married her agent Paul Young. While Cheryl often refers to Larry David as her “first husband” since they married on television, Paul was the first man she was legally married to.
Their time together was happy, and the two welcomed a daughter, Catherine Rose Young, who was born in 2004.
In 2010, after eight years of marriage, Cheryl and Paul amicably decided to end their marriage. The reason was never given, but they assured fans that they would be friends moving forward.
“They will remain very close friends and will raise their daughter together,” a rep for the former couple said in a statement.
They keep their word. Paul last served as a producer on Hines’ new show “This Close.”
If that’s not enough, Paul, Larry and RFK Jr. Everyone had a front-row seat when Cheryl received a star on Hollywood Boulevard in 2014.
So, this is not a messy divorce by any means.
Cheryl’s Relationship with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.: How to Get Started
December 2011, Cheryl inhibition Co-star Larry David introduced her to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was an environmental lawyer at the time.
The two announced their engagement in April 2014 and got married in August of the same year.
All in all, their marriage is happy and healthy. But being married to a man known for courting controversy has presented some challenges for Cheryl.
To “protect” her, separation from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is on the table
For example, in 2022, when Kennedy issued a statement comparing the CDC vaccine authorization to the policies of Nazi Germany, Cheryl spoke out against the statement.
“My husband’s views do not represent my own. While we love each other, we disagree on many current issues…” she wrote on Twitter.
“The atrocities suffered by millions of people during the Holocaust should never be compared to anyone or anything. His views do not represent my own.
Kennedy’s comments sparked such backlash that he suggested a fake breakup to protect Cheryl’s career.
“I saw how this was affecting her life and I said to her, ‘We should announce our separation,’ so that you could keep some distance from me,” RFK Jr. said. new york times (via type).
“We’re not really going to do anything, we’re just — I feel a very strong desire to protect her when my words and my decisions impact her.”
The couple saw no need to take such drastic action and remain happily married.
Cheryl may seem an unlikely candidate to become America’s First Lady, but she doesn’t seem to regret choosing the firebrand as her partner.
